Modeling Stroke Lesions in Diffusion Weighted Images Using 2D Random Field Theory

چکیده
We present a unified statistical framework for quantifying a collection of stroke lesion images that have been segmented in diffusion weighted images. Although Bernoulli models are often used in modeling a collection of binary images, the Bernoulli models actually break down for testing statistical significance of common overlap. To remedy the limitation of the Bernoulli models, we propose to adapt the random field theory often used in whole brain morphometric techniques to stroke lesion images.

Spatiotemporal Dynamic Simulation of Acute Perfusion/Diffusion Ischemic Stroke Lesions Evolution: A Pilot Study Derived from Longitudinal MR Patient Data
The spatiotemporal evolution of stroke lesions, from acute injury to final tissue damage, is complex. Diffusion-weighted (DWI) and perfusion-weighted (PWI) imaging is commonly used to detect early ischemic changes and attempts to distinguish between permanently damaged and salvageable tissues. To date, 2D and 3D measures of diffusion/perfusion regions at individual timepoints have been widely u...

Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is a main component of multiparametric MRI for prostate cancer detection. Recently, high b value DWI has gained more attention because of its capability for tumor characterization. Objective: To assess based on histopathological findings of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided prostate biopsy as a reference, an...
متن کاملPrecise Characterization of the Penumbra Revealed by MRI: A Modified Photothrombotic Stroke Model Study
AIMS To precisely characterize the penumbra by MRI based on a modified photothrombotic stroke mouse model. METHODS The proximal middle cerebral artery was occluded by a convenient laser system in conjunction with an intravenous injection of Rose Bengal in mice. And the suture MCAO model was performed in seven mice as a comparison of the reproducibility. One hour after occlusion, the penumbra ...
متن کاملHigh-risk plaque for carotid artery stenting evaluated with 3-dimensional T1-weighted gradient echo sequence.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Preventing cerebral embolisms is a major concern with carotid artery stenting (CAS). This study evaluated 3-dimensional T1-weighted gradient echo (3D T1GRE) sequence to predict cerebral embolism related to CAS. METHODS We performed quantitative analyses of the characteristics of 47 carotid plaques before CAS by measuring the signal intensity ratio (SIR) and plaque volum...
متن کاملAdvantages of adding diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging to conventional magnetic resonance imaging for evaluating acute stroke.
BACKGROUND Accurate localization of acute ischemic lesions in patients with an acute stroke may aid in understanding the etiology of their stroke and may improve the management of these patients. OBJECTIVE To determine the yield of adding diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) to a conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) protocol for acute stroke. DESIGN A prospective coh...
